Day 15 continued:
As we drove out of Winnipeg, a transport driver yelled at us "I'm from Kempville!" He was the first person to say anything about the logo on the car. And then he proceeded to tell us where everyone he knew lived within Canada... good thing the light changed and we could speed away.
We stopped for gas in Brandon and saw the Direct Plus truck. Shout out to Wade-O!

Ash drove from there to Regina to give Jeff a rest. We stopped there for dinner at Chili's (a pleasant first for both of us)...
...before continuing on to Moose Jaw.
...before continuing on to Moose Jaw.
They sure are friendly! We checked out three different hotels before settling for Super8. Since it was still early, we decided to skip The Bachelorette (Stacey, I need an update from The Men Tell All!) and go catch the new Harry Potter flick. Unfortunately, we were too late for that one, but The Proposal was only a few minutes in, so we went for it. Things were going great for about an hour and a half: we laughed, we cried and then... the film burned off the reel!!!! For the THIRD time in my life, I watched a burn circle expand to fill the entire screen. The last two times, this just meant a delay. However, I guess the technology in Moose Jaw is less advanced and we had to settle for a free movie voucher. All of this to say, I still don't know how it ends! And I'm pretty sure Jeff is not interested in sitting through that hour and a half a second time...
We pretty much made up for the movie frustration by getting a blizzard at Dairy Queen. I loves my cookie dough!
Day 16: We made it down for the free breakfast at the hotel and watched The Weather Network for updates on the fires in Kelowna. (We're thinking about you Robyn and Tara!)
We checked out and made our way downtown for a tunnel tour at 11:30am. The tunnels are secret passages used by Al Capone during prohibition for producing whisky and then smuggling it back to Chicago. We were entertained by some good acting, and not too many facts. We weren't allowed to take any pictures because we aren't supposed to talk about what we saw down there. All these years later and it is still on the down low so next time you are in the "Jaw", check it out.

When that was done, we toured around the cute little town: we visited this neat old train info centre, we stopped for fudge at "The Chocolate Moose" (no cookie dough this time, but yes to peanut butter!), we grabbed a hot dog for lunch and we found the giant moose.

We got on the road in the early afternoon and endured more driving through the prairies. It sure was lonely...

...and flat! We passed tons of fields of canola. Apparently this kind of oil is a big seller too! I guess the image I had was of rows and rows of wheat fields as far as the eye can see, but it was more green and rolling in spots and not nearly as boring.
