Happy 70th, Grandpa Dan!

A milestone trip: Grandpa Dan's surprise 70th birthday party
AND Simone's first road trip and ferry ride!

Packed and ready to go.

After busting it to Horseshoe Bay we were still not early enough to catch the ferry...

... so it gave us time to hang by the water and take in the sights.

Once back in the car and ready to board, Simone takes the wheel just before taking a #2!!

Cleaned up and enjoying her first ferry ride with Mom.

Here is the poster I did up for all the guests to sign for the ol' man.

Here is the moment we had been trying to plan and keep on the down low for a month. Finally got Dad getting misty on camera is like finding the Ogopogo!

The Ladysmith Marina is the site of the party.

Dad's guitar group was on hand to provide the tunes and of course we snuck Dad's geetar in so he could strum along.

An extremely good turn out of friends and family to honour a great guy.

Father and son hummin' and strummin' together.

What's a party without the obligatory gag gift... no, not the shirt, the walker. Ha!

Gramps opens a gift from Simone to which she immediately wants back. Who wouldn't want a set of Sim1 picture coasters!?

Dad's buddy, Dave, presents Dad with his official old person's outfit...

... along with a few tools to see him though his 7th decade.

MC Scott reads a few emails from a few people that couldn't make it to the party.

Dad and Jane share a laugh. Nice pics courtesy of Karen, Scott's girlfriend. (We had a great time hanging out and getting to know her during this trip!)

Our co-conspirators, Peter and Cathy Barter. We could not have pulled off the surprise without them. Thank you sooo very much!

Simone and Dad take a break from all the partying to enjoy the view of the marina.

That's my Aunt Bonnie on the left who flew in from Sarnia for the big day.

Once the stress of partying was done, we spent some time down by the ocean. Here are Scott and Karen checking out the crabs.

Bonnie and Sim get acquainted.

Simone shows us her "off the shoulder" number.

Thanks again to Dad and Jane for having all of us! Looking forward to the next party!
