Happy New Year!

With houseguests (Jeff's Dad, Dan and his wife, Jane - who were leaving for Arizona the next morning) and a pinched nerve in my neck (son of a!), we had no plans to ring in the new year with a bang. We went to see "Up in the Air" (so frustrating!) and picked up a delicious dinner from Costco. We started watching "American Gangster" at 9:00pm, thinking we would have plenty of time before the countdown.

After the first few minutes of the show, I did some quick math and realized that our friends in Ottawa would be celebrating at that time, so I sent some text messages to find out where they were. Eric called to let us know about the party at his house! Jeff and I got passed around the room to quite a few people. It was so nice to catch up, but sad to not be celebrating with them!

Jane went to bed around 10:00pm. We ended up having to pause "American Gangster" to watch the countdown. Dan went to bed right after and missed the end of the show.

As Dan and Jane were leaving at 6:00am, we got up to say goodbye. It was hard to go back to sleep!

This cold and neck are not how I wanted to start the year!
